Sobeys, Monta partner to power retailer’s EV charging network

The company will provide a backend software to the retailer's EV charging rollout

Monta, a company focused on powering the backend software for EV chargers, has partnered with Canadian grocery chain Sobeys to deploy its nationwide EV charger network.

According to the press release, Sobeys will use Monta’s platform to power this new rollout, becoming one of many Canadian companies to do so in recent memory.

This plan is part of Sobeys’ Climate Action, which aims to be completely net zero for scope one and two emissions by 2040, with plans for net zero for scope three emissions by 2050.

Founded in Copenhagen, Denmark, in 2020, Monta notes that it has grown to support more than 3 million charging sessions per month across more than 250,000 commercial chargers. The company also notes that its software is compatible with over 900 charger models from over 250 hardware brands.

Now, Monta is already operational in Canada with several Canadian operators, including an unnamed multifamily operator, a public network operator, an installer operator, and more.

Monta also confirmed in the press release that the platform supports carbon credit data capture for Canadian programs like CFR and British Columbia’s provincial program. The company is also completing a roaming integration with ChargeHub, making the chargers even more discoverable and accessible.
