Nintendo offering discount on Mario Galaxy 1+2 with Switch 2 purchase

Right on time for the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Nintendo is offering a discount on the two Mario Galaxy games with the purchase of a Switch 2.

Between April 9 and May 7, you can get $30 off the Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 remaster collection when you buy a Switch 2 console. This offer is available at participating retailers and includes the physical and digital versions of the games. It should be noted that these are original Switch remasters that are playable on Switch 2 via backwards compatibility and offer a free Switch 2 update.

The Switch 2 costs $699.99 for the Mario Kart World bundle or $629.99 for just the console. The Galaxy games, meanwhile, each cost $54.99 or are bundled together for $99.99, which is admittedly rather steep for marginal remasters of Wii titles. But of course, the games themselves are brilliant, and getting $30 off them isn’t bad. Of course, Nintendo is running this promotion to tie into last week’s release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which, as the title suggests, heavily draws from the Wii games.

While this promotion itself likely isn’t a big enough reason to get a Switch 2 for most, it should be noted that pretty much every other console has gotten more expensive recently amid global economic headwinds and widespread RAM shortages. Last year, Xbox raised the price of the Series X/S, while Nintendo did the same for the original Switch. And last week, Sony hiked the cost of the PS5 by a significant amount.

Therefore, it might be wise if you’ve been on the fence about getting a Switch 2 to buy one sooner rather than later, before the price inevitably increases. While Nintendo has publicly said it has no immediate plans to raise the price of the Switch 2, reports have suggested the company is, naturally, very much considering it.

Recent Switch 2 releases include Mario Tennis Fever and Pokémon Pokopia, while the likes of the DuskbloodsSplatoon Raiders and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave are set to launch later this year. Rumours also indicate that a new Star Fox game and a remake of Ocarina of Time are coming to Switch 2 sometime in 2026.
