The flashlight can be one of the most useful standard built-in features on modern smartphones today. Whether there’s a power outage at home or your friend’s usual phone slips under the car seat, all it takes is a simple tap on your phone screen to fix the issue. However, some owners of the Pixel 10 Pro have started to realize that the flashlight feature may be doing more harm than good, with a number of owners raising complaints about visible damage caused to the lens due to using the flashlight for a longer period of time.

One complaint came from a Reddit post that has since been deleted. The post claimed that they had discovered that their flashlight lens had melted. Another Reddit user uploaded a close-up image showing what looks like a dark burn hole in the centre of the Pixel 10 Pro flashlight. There have been other Reddit posts by Pixel 1o Pro owners about issues surrounding their flashlight, with some saying the light may get extremely hot or leave marks on the device.
But in spite of that, it’s hard to get a grasp on how common this issue is with the phone. According to Android Police, it’s possible that some of these complaints could be incorrect. These issues could simply be mistaken for how the phone was designed, as the LED emitter in the flashlight makes a small visible dot on the glass.
Nevertheless, it does appear to be a real problem for some users, and while there has been no official statement from Google on this issue or a statement on a possible solution, it’s recommended not to leave the flashlight on for an extended period of time.
