Freedom Mobile Lunar New Year promotion offers a ton of free long-distance minutes on select plans for 24 months. Unfortunately, there’s a bit of conflicting information regarding how many minutes you get.

Freedom’s website notes that the Lunar New Year bonus includes 888 monthly long-distance minutes. However, if you read the fine print for the deal, it says you get 1,000 monthly minutes.

Update Feb. 12, 2026, at 9:16 a.m. ET: In an email to MobileSyrup, Freedom confirmed that the correct number of minutes for this promotion is 888, and that it updated its website so the fine print matches that number. However, the carrier also noted that any customers who subscribed while the fine print said 1,000 minutes will get the full 1,000 minutes.

Regardless of which number is right, that’s still a lot of long-distance minutes, so it’s a nice bonus overall. It’s also worth noting you have to make these calls from Canada to one of the supported locations.

Whether you’re activating a new handset, bringing your own phone or activating a new line, you can choose one of these plans for long-distance minutes to one of 14 locations.

Fine print for Freedom’s Lunar New Year deal says you get 1,000 minutes.

Plans with long-distance minutes include:

  • $34/10GB Canada, U.S. Mexico + Roam beyond
  • $39/70GB Canada, U.S. Mexico + Roam beyond
  • $49/100GB Canada, U.S., Mexico + Roam beyond
  • $59/150GB Canada, U.S., Mexico + Roam beyond
  • $69/200GB Canada, U.S., Mexico + Roam beyond
  • $79/250GB Canada, U.S., Mexico + Roam beyond

The 14 Lunar New Year destinations include: Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom. Any unused minutes are non-refundable and non-transferable.

You can’t combine this promotion with any long-distance offers. And after 24 months, you’ll lose access to the long-distance minutes.
