Ubisoft has teased a special collaboration with Konami to bring Metal Gear‘s Solid Snake to its massively popular Rainbow Six Siege game.
In a short teaser, Sam Fisher, the star of Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell series and a playable Operator in the Ubisoft Montreal-developed Siege, takes part in a Codec call from Metal Gear. “Our window is closing. We only get one shot at this,” says Fisher, before an obscured man in a stealth suit is briefly shown.
And to make sure there’s no uncertainty here, the title of the video is none other than “Solid Snake Teaser.” Presumably, this means that Snake will become an Operator.
Given Siege‘s focus on tense, tactical action, Snake is such a cool, no-brainer inclusion. It’s also a fun way to build on Ubisoft’s tribute to Snake in Sam’s guest appearance in Ghost Recon Wildlands. Now, the two stealth icons can fully share the spotlight in Siege.
Ubisoft says we’ll learn more about the collaboration as part of its Siege Year 11 Roadmap Reveal on February 15 at 8 a.m. PT/11 a.m. ET, which will be streamed on Twitch. Notably, this will coincide with the Rainbow Six Invitational esports tournament in Paris and comes shortly after December’s big 10th anniversary Siege celebrations.
In related news, Ubisoft recently underwent a major restructuring that resulted in the closure of its Halifax and Stockholm studios, as well as the cancellation of games like the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake.
