Obsidian’s Avowed is the next Xbox game to come to PS5

Coming in February alongside an anniversary update across all platforms

Avowed

Xbox is bringing its acclaimed RPG Avowed to PS5 on February 17, 2026 for $69.99.

Developed by Obsidian Entertainment (Pillars of EternityFallout: New Vegas), the game launched in February 2025 on Xbox Series X/S and PC. To celebrate the one-year anniversary and corresponding PS5 port, Obsidian will release a special update across all platforms that adds a New Game Plus, photo mode, three new playable races, a new weapon type and more.

In Avowed, players assume the role of an imperial envoy who is sent to the distant Living Lands to investigate a mysterious plague known as the Dreamscourge. The game is set in the same universe as Pillars of Eternity, but it’s a standalone experience that can be played in either first- or third-person.

For what it’s worth, Avowed was one of MobileSyrup‘s favourite games from last year. While some players took issue with it not being a sprawling open-world experience like Skyrim, we found that worked in its favour thanks to a refreshing focus on dense and distinct “open zone” areas to explore. We also loved the choice-based narrative, which tackles themes of authoritarianism and faith, as well as the robust dual-wielding combat system that let you mix melee weapons, magic and guns in delightful and surprising ways.

Notably, Avowed is the latest Xbox game to make its way to PlayStation, following the likes of Vancouver-based The Coalition’s Gears of War: ReloadedIndiana Jones and the Great CircleMicrosoft Flight Simulator 2024 and fellow 2025 Obsidian game The Outer Worlds 2. In addition to Avowed, Halo Campaign Evolved, a remake of the original 2001 Halo game, is confirmed to come to PS5 (as well as Xbox and PC) later this year.

Overall, 2026 is set to be a big year for Xbox thanks to releases like Halo Campaign Evolved, The Coalition’s Gears of War: E-DayForza Horizon 6Fable and Clockwork Revolution. The brand is also celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
