Rogers expands Wi-Fi 7 to Atlantic Canada

Correction: In Calgary, it’s only available with Rogers XFinity’s Pro 4G plan, which offers 4Gbps download and 1Gbps upload speeds, which the company says are the fastest on any Hybrid Fibre Coax network. In Atlantic Canada, the router is available with Rogers Xfinity plans and bundles.

Near the end of June, Rogers announced that it brought Wi-Fi 7 to select areas of Calgary. The carrier promised to bring Wi-Fi 7 to more regions, and it’s already delivering; the company is announcing that it is expanding Wi-Fi 7 to Atlantic Canada.

Rogers mentions, “The company’s latest technology is now available to Rogers Xfinity customers in growing areas across Atlantic Canada.” Additionally, the country will continue to expand Wi-Fi 7 to the rest of the country by the end of the year.

In Calgary, it’s only available with Rogers XFinity’s Pro 4G plan, which offers 4Gbps download and 1Gbps upload speeds, which the company says are the fastest on any Hybrid Fibre Coax network. In Atlantic Canada, the router is available with Rogers Xfinity plans and bundles.

The expansion of Wi-Fi 7 technology is welcome and should lead to better Wi-Fi experiences for Canadians. However, the country has been slow to adopt the technology compared to the U.S. With Rogers pushing the technology into more regions, hopefully we’ll see more internet service providers start to offer their own Wi-Fi 7 tech.
