You can now buy the new Google TV remote with the customizable button

That said, for many the custom button will be likely mapped to replace the old remote's input switcher

Google’s latest TV device, the Google TV Streamer, has a new remote with a customizable button. If you need that button, you can buy the remote separately and pair it with Google’s existing Chromecast.

The remote has been revamped slightly to be a bit larger, and the volume controls have been moved to the front of the device instead of being on the side. That said, the input button has been removed, so if you have a console or Blu-Ray player attached to your TV, you will need to map your customizable star button to be the input switcher.

The best feature is a new built-in speaker, so you can ask Google Assistant on your phone or with a smart speaker to find your remote, and it will chirp to make it easier to find.

In Canada, the new remote only comes in Porcelain, like the TV Streamer, and costs $19.99. It’s compatible with both the HD and 4K Chromecast with Google TV built-in.

They new remote is only listed in the store and will come out on its own soon. That said, I wouldn’t rush out and buy this one unless you lose your old one since the changes really are quite minor.
