Manulife insurance customers can get an Apple Watch at a discounted price — as long as they’re willing to sweat for it.
Customers can sign up for the Apple branded smartwatch through a new rewards program, dubbed ‘Vitality Active Rewards with Apple Watch.’
Anyone who signs up for the Vitality program can purchase an Apple Watch Series 1, Series 3 with GPS or a Series 3 with GPS and Cellular, and pay off the cost of the watch by exercising and remaining healthy.
The Apple Watch program is an extension of Manulife’s Vitality program — launched on September 27th, 2016 — that rewards Manulife customers for exercising.
“By growing our Manulife Vitality progam and offering to new and existing members, we are continuing our promise of helping Canadians to live a long, healthy, active and fulfilled life,” said Michael Doughty, president and CEO of Manulife Canada, in an October 23rd, 2017 media release. “By offering Apple Watch, we are helping Canadians be active and live healthier today, while aiming to protect their financial future.”
According to Manulife, anyone interested in capitalizing on the Active Rewards program simply needs to sign up, select their Apple Watch, pay an activation fee and get started. Interested customers can pay as little as $17 CAD for their watch, but Manulife does stipulate that the cost of the plan varies on customers’ “age, amount of coverage, underwriting status and term period selected.”
