Sony celebrates one year of PlayStation VR with $100 off all bundles

PlayStation VR on table

On October 13th, 2016, Sony made its first foray into virtual reality with the release of the PlayStation VR (PS VR).

Since then, the Japanese tech giant has sold over one million PS VR units.

To celebrate a successful first year, Sony is offering $100 off all PS VR bundles for a limited time only. These sales are on top of the permanent price drops that went into effect in August.

It’s important to note that a PlayStation 4 console and PlayStation Camera are required to run the PS VR. The PlayStation Move controllers are an optional accessory, although they’re required for select games and offer enhanced motion control options on many others.

Running from October 17th to 26th, the following PS VR bundles and accessories will be on sale at select Canadian retailers:

  • Standalone PS VR unit (which does not include the necessary PS Camera) — $300 CAD
  • Until Dawn: Rush of Blood PS VR bundle (includes the PS Camera, PS Move controllers and a copy of Until Dawn: Rush of Blood) — $479
  • PlayStation VR Worlds PS VR bundle (includes the PS Camera, PS Move controllers and a copy of PlayStation VR Worlds) — $479
  • PlayStation Move Controllers (2-pack) — $99 (regular $129)

The list of participating retailers can be found here.

Note: the PlayStation VR + Camera Bundle is also listed as being $100 off, although Best Buy’s product page — the sole retailer Sony’s post links to — has not yet been updated to reflect the price change.

The regular price of the bundle is $499, with Best Buy’s page still listing the package for that price. This story will be updated once the reduced price has been posted.

Those still on the fence about PS VR can take part in free demos held in various Canadian shopping malls and other public places.
