While there are a variety of USB-C battery packs out there, the Anker PowerCore+ 26800 is one of the first to hit the market that features a USB-C-in plug with full power delivery.
Just a few weeks ago I wrote that Aukey’s somewhat bulky 30,000mAh battery pack was the perfect Nintendo Switch travel companion because of its included USB-A to C adapter, but it looks like Anker’s latest offering might be even more useful.
While just about every battery pack is capable of trickle charging a USB-C MacBook, Nintendo Switch or larger USB-C device while the device is not in use, few allow USB-C power delivery that enables full speed charging. Anker, however, is changing this with its new PowerCore+ 26800 charger.
This battery pack is capable of outputting 30W at four different voltages: 5V, 9V, 15V, 20V. To put this in perspective, this is enough power to charge a 12-inch MacBook and is about as powerful as the Nintendo’s Switch’s 39W AC charger. Anker’s PowerCore+ 26800 is priced at $99 USD (about $131 CAD) and currently isn’t available on Amazon.ca, though you can buy it on Amazon.com.
If you’re not a fan of Anker’s products, another mobile accessory company called Lifepower recently launched an IndieGoGo campaign for the Lifepowr A3, a battery pack that features two USB-C power delivery ports, two USB-A ports, Quick Charge 3.0 functionality and a standard 120w AC Outlet. The device also features a 100W PD, which allows it to charge more than just a USB-C laptop. Lifepowr’s charger is priced at $159 USD plus shipping right now on IndieGoGo.
