Sony will unveil an updated version of its PlayStation 4 console at an event in New York on September 7th, according to a new report from French gaming website Gameblog.
In an article on Vice Gaming, Patrick Klepek, the games journalist who broke the news Sony about plans to release a mid-generation upgrade to the PlayStation 4, has corroborated the report. According to one of Klepek’s sources, the event will be a technical showcase of the PlayStation “Neo’s” processing power.
Sony confirmed it has been working on an upgraded PlayStation 4 this past June when, Andrew House, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, told the Financial Times of the PlayStation Neo’s existence. House declined to provide a release date, but did state the console will cost more than the $350 the current PlayStation 4 is sold for in the U.S. Most speculation points to a Q4 launch close to the release date of the company’s upcoming PlayStation VR headset.
