Starting today, travellers who use the Trip Advisor Android app to organize their next trip can also use the app to discover local music in the country they plan to visit.
As part of a new partnership with Google, the popular travel app will link to specially curated playlists on Google Play Music. Local music from more than 60 countries is being showcased through the initiative.
Not to be left out, Canada is one of the countries the two companies have decided to highlight. However, as Engadget notes, the playlists don’t appear to have been created specifically for this promotion; instead, a lot of them draw from pre-existing ones created by Songza, which Google acquired in 2014 and subsequently rolled into Google Play Music.
Two playlists devoted to Montreal feature a mix of songs from the city’s past and present, highlighting its rich musical heritage.
As long as they’ve never had a subscription to Google Play Music before, those who check out the app through Trip Advisor can get a free two month trial while planning their next trip.
Download the Trip Advisor Android app from the Google Play Store.
