Huawei Nexus will reportedly feature 128GB storage option

When Google announced the Nexus 6 last year, the device earned the somewhat dubious distinction of being the largest Nexus phone ever released. At 159 mm x 82 mm, the Nexus 6 was so big, in fact, that a lot of people had trouble using it. Thankfully, it looks like Google and company are set to chase a more useful first this time around.

According to Android Police, the Nexus 6P, the larger of the two smartphones Google reportedly plans to announce this year, will be the first Nexus smartphone to feature a 128GB storage option.

Citing multiple unnamed sources, the publication says the Huawei-made device will be available in 32, 64 and 128 GB variants. It expects each storage tier will add somewhere between $50 and $100 to the price of smartphone.

Despite the software enhancements that come with Marshmallow to make the operating system better utilize external storage, it’s unlikely the 6P will feature a microSD card.

The smaller Nexus 5X is not expected to feature the 128GB option, nor is it expected to include the option to add additional external storage.

Last week, Google sent out an invite to mainstream and tech media outlets, inviting them to an event in San Francisco on September 29.

“Join us for some tasty new treats and much s’more,” says the clever invitation from Google, which also notes that there will be hands-on time at the event, seemingly confirming that this is the event where the company will announce the Nexus 5X, 6P and possibly even the new Chromecast.
