The Nexus 5 2015 will likely have a 2700mAh battery, announcement coming in September

Citing what it claims is a reliable source, Android Police has just published some new information on the upcoming LG Nexus 5 refresh.

Before digging into the phone’s internal specs, article author David Ruddock notes that his source wasn’t able to provide him with any information on the actual name of the device, so we’ll just have to keep awkwardly referring to it as the 2015 Nexus 5 for the time being. Moreover, his source wasn’t able to provide any details on pricing.

That said, they were able to give him with an almost complete rundown of the much-anticipated phone’s specs.

To start, the new Nexus 5 will feature a Snapdragon 808 processor. This confirms a report from last week that said the device will feature a Snapdragon 808, not the Snapdragon 620, as previously rumoured.

The 808 system on a chip features an Adreno 418 GPU, which is comparable to the Adreno 330 GPU that was found in devices like the Nexus 6 and Galaxy Note 4. Supporting this setup will be 3GB of RAM.

A USB Type-C port is also confirmed to be on board, though Ruddock and company weren’t able to find out if it is an actual USB 3.0 implementation of the port or a reworked USB 2.0 model.

One of the main issues a lot of Nexus 5 owners had with their device was its battery life. And at the very least, it appears that Google and LG are attempting to solve that pain point with a modestly larger battery. Compared to the Nexus 5’s 2300mAh power pack, the new LG Nexus is said to feature a 2700mAh one. For the sake of comparison, this means that the Nexus 5 will feature a larger batter than the Galaxy S6, but smaller than the LG G4, which also runs a Snapdragon 808. Thankfully, we had great battery life on the G4, and the Nexus 5 is expected to have a lower-resolution display.

Display wise, the 2015 Nexus 5 will feature a 5.2-inch 1080p. While not the most dense display we’ve seen on a 5.2-inch device, it’s possible Google and LG decided that a 1080p display was the best compromise between visual clarity and battery life.

Moving on to the cameras, the device is said to include a 12.3 megapixel back-facing camera and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera.

In terms of storage, the phone will come in 16GB and 32GB variants.

Lastly, Android Police says the device will be announced in late September, a fact that it says has corroborated with other sources.
