Popular quick-bite news app, Circa, has received a significant update to version 3.0 today, adding support for iOS 8 and the new iPhone 6 screen sizes, along with redesigns on both iPhone and Android.
The app has added a section called Wire, meant to summarize updates to stories one follows through the day. Daily Brief has also been added which, similar to Yahoo’s News Digest, pushes a curated list of stories based on articles liked in the past. Presumably, the Circa staff cherrypicks specific articles and, based on predetermined interests, pushes a small number of them to the Wire every day at a certain time.
With Circa 3.0, the startup has begun to emphasize personalization in a big way. It’s now possible to filter topics, like lifestyle or sports, that are of no interest, both in the feed itself and through push notifications. They’ve also added the ability to search for news, both recent and archived.
The apps now look considerably different on both iOS and Android, the latter sporting a swipe-friendly interface that puts the Wire close at hand. It’s a fantastic update to one of our new favourite news apps, so give it a try.
