HTC Canada has committed to keep its flagship devices updated with the latest Android version. Google unveiled “Android L” yesterday and HTC has promised users of the One M7 and One M8 an upgrade to the new OS within 90 days after receiving the final code from Google.
On HTC’s Software Updates page it reads, “HTC is excited about the new features in the Android L release and we can’t wait to share them with you. We are committed to updating our flagship HTC One family as fast as possible as part of our HTC Advantage program. We will begin rolling out updates to the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) worldwide within 90 days of receiving final software from Google, followed shortly thereafter by other One family members and select devices.”
It’s certainly good news that HTC has committed to this timeline, but the only date Google pinned down for the actual availability of Android L is sometime this fall. This means HTC One customers will see the OS hit their device this coming winter.
