CIBC has updated their mobile banking app for iOS and Android today. The main update allows for users to deposit cheques (personal or business) into their account using the camera in your iPhone, iPad, or Android smartphone or tablet. CIBC states that customers can only deposit Canadian dollar cheques via CIBC eDeposit.
This feature was recently added by a few credit unions and also ING Bank. Now with CIBC on board it’ll only be a matter of time before RBC, TD Bank, BMO and Scotia make this available to their customers.
No word when CIBC will update their BlackBerry app will be updated to make cheque deposits.
