Official Songza app comes to Windows Phone 8

Songza fans, rejoice!

The popular free music streaming service has finally hit Windows Phone 8 devices, bringing activity- and mood-themed music to users of Microsoft’s mobile OS. The company had previously launched a native app for Windows 8/RT computers and tablets, making Windows Phone a logical next step.

Songza’s Windows Phone 8 app looks and feels familiar to other streaming services on the platform, maintaining the Modern UI aesthetic, dividing sections by a horizontal swipe. Music plays in the background and the app supports lockscreen controls.

Users can search for music based on a particular mood, activity or artist, and the app provides access to the same curated playlists that helped the service rise in popularity across iOS, Android and the web. Songza has grown tremendously in recent months, and celebrated a million Canadian users just two months after launching last year.

The company also recently launched a new iOS app with Audyssey integration, significantly improving audio quality by tuning the output for specific headphones’ sound profile.
