While Galaxy Nexus users have been enjoying Android OS 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich since December 8th, many Samsung Galaxy S II users have been patiently waiting for their upgrade to arrive. The last official update we heard from Samsung was that both the “GALAXY S II and GALAXY Note will start in the first quarter 2012, and other GALAXY devices will soon follow”. Just a few minutes ago on Twitter Samsung announced that “#ICS for #GALAXYSII will be available today in Europe including Poland, Hungary, Sweden, & Korea, & gradually roll out to other markets.”
So, for us Canadians, we still wait. We’re slotted into the “other markets” category. Looking back on a leaked Bell internal doc that we posted suggested we’ll see the Galaxy S II receive ICS sometime “April 2012”. Right now, that’s looking just about right.
