For those who are with WIND there is some good news as they given a small update, but big advances when it comes to their services. They state that one of their cell sites in Whistler is ready and they turned it on. Perfect timing for those experiencing the Olympics. Wind says “in advance of our Vancouver launch. We decided to turn it on last night in recognition of this great event… so if you’re visiting Whistler, check your phone and you may see “WIND Home”!”
If that’s not good news for you… how about roaming. WIND now made US Roaming available for Pay After (postpaid) clients, Prepaid (pay-before) is still in testing mode. Outside the States roaming is coming soon, but the rates are currently the following:
Calling within the U.S.: $0.25 per minute
Calling home to Canada: $0.25 per minute
Calls to the rest of the world: $3.50 per minute
Incoming calls: $0.25per minute
Incoming texts: FREE
Outgoing texts: $0.15 each text
Data: $0.10 per 25KB
In addition to all this news they also write that “At the risk of announcing something in advance, we’ll be enabling a couple of Blackberry services that people have been waiting for by the end of the month, including tethering”. So you can most likely expect BIS service of sorts…
The Wind is certainly getting stronger, especially with the upcoming launches of Edmonton and Ottawa by months end.
