Wow – we knew Samsung was doing well, but not this well! According to a report in Reuters, Samsung has already exceeded the 300 million handset mark sales this year, a record for the company. Apparently Samsung accomplished this feat at the end of November, besting its previous record from 2011 of 280 million handsets. So Samsung still has all of December, and will rope in the Galaxy Nexus customers. Majority of the success came from the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II family of devices, which have now passed well over the 30 million units milestone.
JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business said “We look forward to extending this success going into 2012.” There was no breakdown per country in the report, but from a Canadian perspective, the only known stat is from a recent comScore study which indicated Samsung owning 25.2% of the Canadian market share. As for devices in 2012, we know one stellar Android is en route, the Galaxy Note will be coming to our fine land sometime in Q1 2012.
