‘Ask Maps’ comes to Canada, bringing Gemini to Google Maps

The rollout includes Personal Intelligence features

Google announced that ‘Ask Maps’ is coming to Canada in the latest rollout. Ask Maps brings Gemini capability to Google Maps. Google first introduced Ask Maps back in March, but the feature wasn’t avaialble in Canada.

Features coming to Canada include:

Personal Intelligence: Giving Ask Maps access to your flight, dining and event details from your Gmail, so you can quickly get directions, find nearby spots, or head to the location on time without needing to go through your inbox.

More Real-time Information: Access details about navigating public transit with real-time train and bus schedules, updates on route disruptions (crashes, construction), and live busyness levels, so you can figure out your arrival better.

Both of these features are coming to Canada on Android and iOS.

While we don’t have Agentic features coming to Canada, Agentic functionalities are coming to Ask Maps in the U.S. Ask Maps will be able to handle complex tasks such as ordering food for pickup or delivery via Uber Eats and other partners, looking up hotel availability and prices, and discovering nearby events.

It’s unclear when Agentic features will come to Canada.
