Nintendo has unveiled a big August update for Nintendo Switch Online.
Most notably, GameCube classic Super Mario Sunshine is splashing onto the service on August 13. This is a particularly notable addition as the only previous way to play the game on modern Nintendo hardware was through the since-discontinued 2020 Mario 3D All-Stars collection on the Nintendo Switch.

Like all other GameCube games offered through Switch Online, Sunshine is exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. Some of the other GameCube titles in the Switch Online catalogue include Soul Calibur 2, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Luigi’s Mansion, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker and Vancouver-based Next Level’s Super Mario Strikers.
Additionally, August 4 will mark the Switch Online debut of two previously unreleased Virtual Boy games on both Switch and Switch 2. The first is D-Hopper, an action-adventure game from Fire Emblem maker Intelligent Systems, while the second is Zero Racers, a spin-off of the F-Zero sci-fi racing series.
All of these games are included in a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership, which costs $69.99/year.
