These OnePlus phones will get updates after Canada departure

Last week, OnePlus confirmed it would pull out of Canada and other regions.

While the news was sad for people with fond memories of OnePlus’ ‘flagship killer’ devices and for those who care about having more phone options available in Canada, the company’s departure leaves Canadian OnePlus owners with questions.

If you’ve got a OnePlus phone and you’re wondering what comes next in terms of software updates, we’ve got some info for you.

Officially, OnePlus said that people with its devices that are still in the “eligible upgrade scope” will get the option to voluntarily upgrade to sister company Oppo’s ColorOS 17 based on Android 17, expected to arrive later

While the shift to ColorOS might be jarring for some, OnePlus’ OxygenOS has shared a codebase with ColorOS for years, and the two share a number of similarities that should make the transition a little smoother. Still, there are some differences to be expected, including additional bloatware, a different aesthetic, and other small tweaks (Android Authority has a great comparison for anyone preparing to make the leap!)

But who actually will get to make the leap? Well, it depends. OnePlus hasn’t published an official list so far, but we know from the company’s other statements that the ColorOS upgrade will only come to devices that are still set to receive software support. According to the end-of-support dates listed on endoflife.date, that includes:

• OnePlus 11
• OnePlus 11R
• OnePlus 12
• OnePlus 12R
• OnePlus Pad 2
• OnePlus 13
• OnePlus 13R
• OnePlus 13T
• OnePlus Pad 3
• OnePlus 15
• OnePlus 15R

Note that not all of the above devices were sold in Canada.

That list also aligns with a list shared by leaker Yogesh Brar on Twitter/X. However, it’s worth noting that there are also several OnePlus Nord devices that Brar says will get ColorOS 17. However, those devices weren’t made available in Canada.
