The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 is expected to launch on July 22 alongside the rumoured Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. According to the well-known tipster, Ice Universe, this might be the last small folding handset from Samsung.
It’d be strange for Samsung to get rid of its Z Flip series, as it has a history of outselling its Fold series — well, at least until the Z Fold 7, which accounted for roughly 60 per cent of pre-orders. Samsung wouldn’t be the first to make this move, as Chinese brands like Xiaomi and Oppo have stopped selling flip-style phones in the past few years.

If this rumour is true, it won’t topple the flip phone industry, though. In the U.S., the top foldable maker is Motorola, and this was before the launch of the Razr Fold. Motorola has made Flip phones its thing, selling multiple models of the device, depending on the region. However, in 2026, MobileSyrup learned that Motorola wouldn’t bring the latest Razr Flip to Canada, so maybe they don’t sell as well here.
Honestly, it won’t be a big loss for me if Samsung stop selling the Z Flip series. I’ve never been a huge fan. With rumours that Samsung is positioning the new Fold 8 as more affordable and smaller than what we’re used to, for me, it’s the perfect replacement.
