Freedom Mobile brings back $9 BYOP credit on select plans

The $9 credit applies every month for as long as customers remain eligible

Freedom Mobile has brought back its $9 discount for bring your own phone (BYOP) customers.

This isn’t the first time Freedom has offered this particular deal, but it’s good to see it back. It offers significant savings for customers who don’t need to get a new phone, making the carrier’s already excellent plans even better.

Here are the plans eligible for the promotion and how much they cost:

  • $40/100GB 5G CAN/US/MEX (regular $49)
  • $50/150GB 5G CAN/US/MEX (regular $59)
  • $60/200GB 5G CAN/US/MEX (regular $69)
  • $70/250GB 5G CAN/US/MEX (regular $79)

Notably, it looks like Freedom’s Lunar New Year offer of 888 long-distance minutes is still available with these plans.

Per the fine print on Freedom’s website, the credit is available to those who activate a new line or migrate to an eligible in-market plan. The $9 credit will be applied starting on customers’ first month of service and will continue to be applied as long as customers “remain active on an eligible plan.”

However, that includes buying a new phone from Freedom, so if you get the credit, you’d better be prepared to hold onto your phone or buy outright if you want to keep it for a while.

Unfortunately, Freedom’s website doesn’t specify an end date for the $9 credit offer, with the site only mentioning that it’s available for a limited time. With that in mind, if you want to get one of these plans, you might want to move quickly.

You can find all of these discounted plans on Freedom’s website.
