Telus-owned Public Mobile slapped new end dates on several of its plans and also added new 4G plans.
All of Public’s Canada/U.S./Mexico 5G plans now sport a label warning that they end on January 30th. While this isn’t the first time that Public has added end dates to its plans, I have a hunch the provider will follow through this time.
Mainly, that’s because Freedom Mobile just changed up its plans and Public has been closely matching Freedom’s offers for a while now. For example, Freedom had a $35/50GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico plan (including a $5/mo autopay discount and $5/mo credit for 18 months), and Public has a similar $35/50GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico plan.

However, Freedom just replaced it with a $39/60GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico plan. Granted, that still includes the $5/mo autopay discount, and the $35/mo price is still available to customers who bundle with Freedom’s home internet. Still, the base plan has increased in price, and I would expect Public to launch a very similar plan after January 30th.

As for Public’s 4G plans, the provider has essentially just raised prices, though it also added or removed data in some cases. Here’s a list of all of Public’s plans as of January 29th:
- $19/500MB 4G (previously $19/1GB).
- $27/10GB 4G (previously $23/6GB).
- $32/20GB 4G (previously $29/20GB).
- $29/10GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico (ends Jan. 30).
- $35/50GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico (ends Jan. 30).
- $45/75GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico (ends Jan. 30).
- $55/100GB 5G Canada/U.S./Mexico (ends Jan. 30).
It remains to be seen what Public changes its plans to on the 30th, but based on the trends I’m seeing, I would expect prices to go up. So, if you want to get one of these Canada/U.S./Mexico plans, now is the time to do it.
