Update Jan. 24 at 9:48am ET: Koodo has removed the $50/90GB promo plan from its website. It’s not clear why the plan is gone or if it will return, but Fido still has its $50/85GB option for now.
Telus-owned Koodo added new promotional Lunar New Year plans to match Rogers’ Fido, but then upped the ante with extra data.
Koodo added $40/60GB 4G and $50/90GB 4G bring your own device (BYOP) plans to its roster, up from $40/50GB and $50/75GB. At the time of writing, the 50GB and 75GB plans were still listed on the provider’s website — I wouldn’t be surprised if those go away shortly. But until then, just be careful to make sure you select the version with more data.
Both the plans are marked as promotional offers, but it’s not clear how long they plans will stick around. The prices include a $5/mo autopay discount. There’s also a $70 connection fee, but Koodo waives that for online shoppers.

The plans include 4G data, which Koodo caps at up to 100Mbps speeds, and unlimited Canada-wide calling and texting, call display, voicemail, call waiting, and conference calling. Koodo plans also include a free perk that customers can select, with options like premium voicemail, unlimited international texting (sent from Canada), rollover data and more. Perk options vary from plan to plan.
While Koodo’s $40/60GB plan matches Fido’s, the 90GB plan includes 5GB more data than Fido’s $50/85GB plan. It’s worth noting that Fido’s plans are the base $40/50GB and $50/75GB plans with a limited-time 10GB data bonus that expires after 24 months. Koodo’s plans don’t list an expiry data, so if you want to keep your plan for longer than two years, Koodo might be the way to go.
Also of note, Fido’s plan prices include a $5/mo discount and a $10/mo autopay discount.
At the time of writing, Bell’s Virgin Plus hadn’t matched these offers.
