Nintendo to hold Switch 2 public demo event in Toronto in April

Nintendo just revealed its long-awaited Switch 2 console, and as part of that, the company has confirmed a series of special ‘Nintendo Switch 2 Experience’ preview events will be held across the world.

In a press release, the company confirmed a sole Canadian stop on the global tour will take place in Toronto at the Enercare Centre at Exhibition Place from April 25th to 27th. This event will allow fans to go hands-on with the new console. The company says a Nintendo Account will be required to attend, with ticket registration opening on January 17th at 3pm ET and running until January 26th at 11:59pm ET on this page.

Nintendo confirmed that registration for the New York, Los Angeles, and Dallas events will go live on January 17th.

In 2017, Nintendo held a similar preview event for the first Switch in Toronto at the city’s Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Otherwise, details still remain pretty scarce on the Switch 2 itself. In the short reveal video, Nintendo confirmed the design of the Switch 2, which largely retains the same build and console-handheld hybrid functionality but adds magnetic Joy-Cons, a larger U-shaped kickstand and a mysterious C button (which rumours indicate will relate to native voice chat.)

Nintendo says a full Direct presentation dedicated to the Switch 2 will be held on April 2nd.

Update Jan. 16, 2025 at 10:50am ET: Added details about the sole Canadian stop in Toronto.
