Google seems very close to releasing Android 15 to most phone manufacturers, but it’s only rolling out to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) right now. Support for Pixels will come in the next few weeks, and other phones will follow.
The new additions to the Open Source Project will also be added to Android 15 on consumer phones once the update hits later this fall. This includes the new Circle to Search feature that will allow you to discover music playing on your screen and AI updates to the Android accessibility screen reader tool.
Most of the other changes are behind the scenes and more for developers. These include tweaks to the HDR image capturing pipeline to help retain SDR colour space in case the user tries to share an HDR image in an SDR environment.
Another cool feature appears to be the ability to pin two apps in a split-screen configuration to your taskbar if you have a large folding phone (though, notably, most foldables already offer this capability). If you want to see all the updates, you can read the full changelog here.
