Stuart Lombard, the founder and CEO of Ecobee, has announced his retirement.
“It has been an incredible pleasure to work at ecobee over the last 16 years,” Lombard wrote in a post on LinkedIn.
The home automation company launched its services in 2007 and offered the world its first smart thermostat in 2008. The company has since gone on to offer a variety of smart home devices, including its Smart Doorbell Camera.
Since launch, the company’s smart devices have saved 28 terawatts of electricity, Ecobee states on its website. This is enough electricity to take all LA and Chicago homes off gird for a full year.
Sustainability has been at the company’s core, and Lombard’s message indicates his departure doesn’t mean this will change.
“The road ahead is an exciting one: delivering a home that is comfortable, safe, resilient, and net zero should be one of the crowning achievements of our time: A shift from a world where energy is expensive, dirty, and scarce to one where energy is clean, cheap, and plentiful.”
Greg Fyke, the company’s chief product officer, will serve as the company’s incoming president, BetaKit reports.
