YouTube Music is the latest music streaming service to support Siri on HomePod

HomePod 2nd-Gen

Up until now, the HomePod and HomePod Mini have only offered voice commands for music streaming services like Apple Music, Deezer, Pandora, TuneIn Radio and iHeartRadio.

The HomePod and HomePod Mini now support Siri commands for another music streaming service used by millions of users globally: YouTube Music.

Apple has added Siri Integration support for YouTube Music, simplifying the experience for subscribers by enabling voice commands to initiate YouTube Music without the need to specify “Play … on YouTube Music” in every request.

According to Google’s Support Document about the feature, YouTube Music is supported on the following Apple HomePod models: the 1st-Gen HomePod, the 2nd-Gen HomePod and the Apple HomePod Mini.

The integration means that now you can control your music playback with ease using Siri’s voice commands or physical touch controls on your Apple HomePod, easily switch playback between your Apple HomePod and iPhone, allowing for a seamless listening experience, and manage and control your YouTube Music playback directly from the Apple Home app.

The announcement was first made by YouTube in a Reddit post.

To set YouTube Music up with your HomePod, head to the YouTube Music app > Settings > Connected Apps > Connect with HomePod.

Further, if you set YouTube Music as your default music app, you wouldn’t need to specify “Play … on YouTube Music” in every request.
