Facebook recently introduced reactions and mentions for Messenger in a long line of updates to the social giant’s messaging app.
Reactions give users the ability to react to an individual message with a specific emotion. To add a reaction, tap and hold any message, and select one emoji from the love, smile, wow, sad, angry, yes and no emojis.
Message receivers will be able to see how people have reacted to their messages in the lower corner of the message. Tapping the emoji show which members of the conversation reacted which way.
Mentions are a way to directly notify someone when they’re being mentioned in a conversation. To mention someone, type @ before the first few letters of their name and select from the list.
Everyone in the conversation can see the call out in the conversation, but only the specified person gets a notification that they’ve been mentioned.
Specific information about when these features will roll out hasn’t been revealed.
