Starting now, Canadian Facebook users will be able to search and apply for jobs through the social media platform. A new “Jobs” option has been added, allowing companies to add job listings to their respective Facebook pages.
Users can also view job posts in their News Feeds or through a new dedicated Jobs bookmark. Clicking on the ‘Apply Now’ button, a form will open that’s pre-populated with information from their Facebook profiles, such as contact information and education and employment history. These details can be reviewed and edited before submission.
Admins of these pages can boost job posts to reach a larger audience, review applications and contact applicants through Facebook Messenger.
Facebook confirmed it was testing job posting functionality late last year. The goal is to compete with companies such as LinkedIn, which reportedly makes most of its revenue from recruiters paying a monthly fee to post jobs and connect with candidates.
