Pebble announces two new Kickstarter exclusive Time Round smartwatches

With exactly two weeks left in its latest Kickstarter campaign, Pebble is opening up pre-orders to two new special edition Pebble Time Round smartwatches.

Available exclusively through the company’s most recent crowdfunding campaign, the new Pebble Time Round smartwatches come in two new colours: polished gold and polished silver. Both watches feature attractive 20mm black leather bands and a special black decobezel.

Besides their (admittedly fancy) new look, the two smartwatches are functionally identical to past additions to the Pebble Time Round family.

That said, as a bit of extra incentive to encourage current and new backers to pledge toward these two new special edition smartwatches, all Pebble Time Round backers will get their campaign rewards prior to other backers. Moreover, their smartwatch will arrive with a special laser engraving.

Unless Pebble plans to add additional backer tiers to its campaign at a later date, there are two packages through which one can get one of these two new watches. There’s the $298 USD combo pack, which includes one of the new Pebble Time Round smartwatches and one Pebble 2 smartwatch. There’s also a standalone Pebble Time Round package, which includes just the watch itself.

The company also announced a preview of its Pebble 4.0 SDK. Starting today, backers can start digging in to the company’s latest software development kit, and begin developing apps for the upcoming smartwatches.

At the time of writing, Pebble’s most recent crowdfunding campaign has amassed more than $11-million, with close to 58,000 backer contributing to the project. Like past Pebble Kickstarter campaigns, the company’s latest project has been immensely popular on the crowdfunding platform; it reached its $1-million funding goal in an hour.

Partway through the campaign, the company announced that the Pebble Core will ship with support for Amazon’s Alexa voice-activated assistant. Unless Amazon announces plans to bring the Echo to Canada, the Core will be one of the first devices to come here with the e-commerce giant’s personal assistant on-board.
