Gaming videos have become a huge part of YouTube in the last few years, and now over 144 billion minutes of those videos are watched every month. Many gamers will use recorded gameplay to help them through a tough level, and others just like watching interesting YouTubers play games.
Starting today, you’ll be able to create that same experience right on your Android phone. The Google Play Games app is getting a new recording feature that lets users capture in-game footage, in addition to optionally overlaying their face and commentary on the video. These videos will be easy to edit and will upload directly from the Play Games app to YouTube, and can be captured in 480p or 720p.
You can use this feature with any game in the Play Games app, so you’ll be able to share your best ‘work’ whether you’re pacifying Angry Birds, or escaping police in Smashy Road: Wanted. The roll-out of this feature will begin with the US and the UK over the next few days, and I’ll bet if you complain loudly enough, it will make its way up to Canada soon enough.
