Samsung today announced the wide scale availability of its newest smart wearable, the Gear S2 smartwatch, across Canada.
Initially available for pre-order through Best Buy, the Gear S2 can now be bought at Samsung Experience Stores, Telus, Bell, and other major retailers, according to a press release from the company. Best Buy’s website, however, claims that the smartwatch is shipping on October 30th, so we’ve reached out to Samsung to clarify availability at other locations.
Announced in September at IFA Berlin, the Gear S2 features a 1.2-inch circular display, one of Samsung’s own Exynos processors clocked at 1GHz, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. The Tizen-powered wearable is also IP68 water and dust proof certified, and includes a 250mAh battery that Samsung says can sustain the device through three days of regular use.
It is available at two different price points. The $399 Gear S2, available in both silver and black, features a practical and sporty design. Its more expensive sibling, the $449 Gear S2 Classic, is for those that want a more refined look and leather band with their smartwatch.
