While this product might sound a little silly for a single use case smart device, D-Link’s recently launched Wi-Fi Water Sensor sounds like it will serve its purpose perfectly.
D-Link’s Wi-Fi Water Sensor is designed to be placed around water heaters, washing machines, sinks, basement sump pumps and basically anywhere else where a water leak could happen. If a leak does occur, a built-in siren and LED light will alert the owner of the spillage. On the chance that the user isn’t home, the Smart Water Sensor will send a notification to a compatible iOS or Android device.
The device also comes equipped with a one metre power extension cable and a 50cm water sensing cable that detects liquid. D-Link suggests users plug the Smart Water Sensor into an outlet near the at risk water source.
D-Link’s water sensor is part of the company’s mydlink connected home family that includes Wi-Fi cameras, Wi-Fi smart plugs, Wi-Fi sensors and various other internet-enabled smart devices. The device has a suggested retail price of $79.99.
