Following the lead of Facebook and Instagram, videos on Twitter now begin automatically.
Twitter announced today the arrival of this feature, saying that it wants to help users enjoy a “seamless video experience” while using the platform. Similar to Instagram, users will need to click on a video to hear sound. Alternatively, turning one’s phone on its side will also automatically play the video with sound, in addition to expanding it to fit the width of the display.
Of course, if you’re not in to videos playing automatically, a setting on Twitter’s website lets you turn the feature off. Autoplay videos are available now on Twitter’s web client and iOS app. Android users will get the feature “soon.”
