The SmartBand, which is currently available at Rogers and the Sony Store for $100, was introduced at CES this year and Sony positioned this more than a fitness tracker as it has the ability to be “log your life.” There are a couple parts to the wrist accessory that make it work – a rubber wristband and a sensor called the Core, which can easily be removed and used as a bracelet, necklace or clip. The SmartBand is compatible with any NFC-enabled Android device running OS 4.4 or higher and gives power to the user to track your sleep patterns, set alarms, receive notifications, track your fitness (steps, calories, etc), but also goes further to record the photos you’ve taken, music that you’ve listened to, weather – basically a journal of your day – and shows it in a fancy app called LifeLog.
