The Galaxy Gear is Samsung’s first attempt at a smartwatch, and today the company is claiming that sales “have been better than [our] own expectations,” reaching 800,000 units in two months. According to a report in Reuters, Samsung says the Gear is “the most sold wearable watch available in the market place… and we plan to expand its availability by expanding mobile devices that work with the Gear.” The Gear currently works with the Note 3 and Note 10.1 (2014 Edition).
Canada saw the Gear launch at the same time as the Note 3 on October 4th, and the smartwatch has since been expanded to 58 countries. The price of this “companion device” is around $330, though Samsung has hinted that we’ll see a price cut during the Q4 holiday push.
