The HTC One Max is coming — this is known — but whether it will have a few features to differentiate it from the growing line of jumbo Android devices remains to be seen.
In a recently-leaked photo, the HTC One Max appears to have a fingerprint reader around back, underneath the UltraPixel camera sensor. It’s unclear whether it will perform similarly to that of the iPhone 5s, or even the Motorola Atrix, which debuted in 2011, but that it is becoming a trend is clear.
While the device’s specs are currently unknown, a recent report by evleaks claimed that the One Max would actually have a lower-speed processor than the One itself, a 1.5Ghz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro SoC. Though extremely similar to the Snapdragon 600, it lacks the higher clock speed and thermal improvements that positioned the One and Galaxy S4 so well in recent months. With devices like the Note 3 and LG G2 debuting with next-generation Snapdragon 800 chips, it’s unclear why, aside from price, HTC may handicap its largest device in this way.
