Zinio, the popular magazine subscription portal with homes on Android, iOS and Windows 8, has announced it will launch its Windows Phone version exclusively on Nokia Lumia smartphones.
The company, which operates in Canada with a far more limited selection than its U.S. counterpart, has successfully competed with Apple’s and Google’s in-house services, though perhaps less effectively against the former’s Newsstand, which has become the industry standard for engaging, polished reading experiences.
Zinio will bring a number of new features to Windows Phone, including Reading List, which is a stream of “trending” articles and full issues from a user’s subscription list, available both on- and offline, as well as background downloading and live tile support. Zinio claims that because Nokia offers a ClearBlack display on its devices, the reading experience is superior to other screens.
The app has not gone live yet, but we’ll update you when it has.
