None of Canada’s 2011 Xperia devices, including the ray, mini pro and arc and arc s, have yet to see an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich.
With the international versions of the ray and arc s already receiving Android 4.0.3, it would seem appropriate that the arc would follow close behind. It looks like Sony has upped the build to Android 4.0.4, and handsets which have already received the previous build will be upgraded.
At this point, with the majority of 2011 Xperia devices receiving upgrades to Ice Cream Sandwich, it’s up to the Canadian carriers to certify the new builds and push them out as soon as possible. We’ve tested ICS on both the arc s and the ray and they’re huge aesthetic improvements over Gingerbread, but Sony acknowledges that there is risk of performance degradation over the shipping software due to RAM limitations.
As soon as we know when Sony will release ICS for its 2011 Xperias, you’ll know. Remember, the Play is not receiving Ice Cream Sandwich to retain a consistent and stable experience and the Xperia S has been pushed back to the “latter part of Q2.”
