We got confirmation from Rogers today that there’s a backorder for the recently launched Apple iPhone 3GS – reason being is that they’ve sold out of them. No word on exact sales number were released (we’ll have to wait until the end of the quarter results).
However, Rogers spokesperson Keith McArthur stated “The Canadian launch of the iPhone 3GS has been a tremendous success. Rogers has experienced high demand and has sold out of the iPhone 3GS in the majority of outlets across the country. New shipments are on their way and back orders will be filled on a priority basis. The good news is that all our iPhone promotions run until July 31. Our goal is to get an iPhone 3GS to every Canadian that wants one.”
Forum member live_strong has pointed out that you can still get the iPhone from your local Apple Store locations.
How many Canadians do you think want an iPhone? When Rogers first launched the iPhone 3G a year ago, Canadians went crazy and bought up 255,000 of them. With our population hitting 30 million, wireless penetration at 70%… I say those who want to have an iPhone 3GS is around 100,000 max for the quarter.
