Tough economic times calls for increasing the prices of your products!
Remember November 23rd? A big day for Virgin Mobile Canada… customers were looking forward to a follow-up to the successful launch of the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 with one of the most popular Blackberry devices, the Curve 8330.
Well, Virgin did release the Curve that day and to much joy from customers they priced it at $49.99 to match the big boys Rogers, Bell and TELUS.
It seems now Virgin wants to separate themselves from everybody and have decided to increase the price of the Curve to $79.99 on a 3-year plan… the other price plans stay the same at $329.99 on a 2-year plan; $379.99 on a 3-year plan and the affordable $429.99 on a 30-day (no contract) plan.
Knowing the holiday sales are over and prices get adjusted but I find this an odd move… everyone else decreases the prices, Virgin, a low cost MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) increases their price by 37.5%.
For those who would like to go down this route and choose the Curve with Virgin – it weighs 114 grams, full QWERTY keyboard, built-in GPS, 2 megapixel camera with video, 3.5 mm headphone jack and is Bluetooth compatible. Virgin is throwing in an 8GB memory card to the offer as well. A basic BlackBerry Bundles start at $15 per month and gives you unlimited e-mail and Instant Messenger.
