Uber has partnered with Expedia to begin offering hotel bookings through its app.
The feature, which is only available in the U.S. at the moment, includes more than 700,000 accommodations. Filters will be available based on pricing, ratings, hotel class, amenities like pools and gyms and more. And to unify all of these features, a new Travel Mode has been added to help users explore whatever city they’re in, listing everything from airport navigation tools to recommended dining and tourist spots.
Other announcements Uber made include the ability for drivers in select cities to arrive with food and drink items, AI-powered voice bookings, and confirmation that home rental service Vrbo will come to the platform sometime later this year.
It’s unclear if and when these features will roll out to other markets, including Canada. But it speaks to Uber’s larger goal to create an “everything app” that services users in all kinds of way. Over the years, the company has expanded from ride-hailing to include the likes of food and grocery delivery, courier services, and bike and car rentals. With these new features, it’s looking to become an even bigger part of your travel experience.
