Upcoming AirPods Pro rumoured to ‘see around you’

The buds may feature a tiny IR camera on each bud

It looks like Apple’s next-generation AirPods Pro may feature cameras, according to leaker Kosutami, as reported by MacRumors.

The leaker on X said the device will be able to see around the wearer, which MacRumors presumes means it’ll have cameras in each earbud. Previously, the well-known supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the 2026 AirPods Pro will have a big upgrade in the form of a tiny infrared camera on each bud. Kuo reports that the IR cameras could recognize hand gestures and offer an enhanced spatial audio experience when you’re using the Vision Pro headset.

Further, a leak from Instant Digital indicated that the AirPod Pro could come at the same price as its 2025 predecessor, which launched in Canada at $329. Currently, it’s unclear if this is a true successor to the AirPod Pro third-generation or an updated version of these earbuds.

Until the official announcement, I’d take leaks with a grain of salt. However, either way, we’ll have to learn more about these in September alongside the rumoured iPhone 18 series and iPhone Fold.

While Kosutami isn’t a well-known leaker for us, MacRumors is a well-regarded publication that has been reporting on Kosutami leaks since 2023.
