Cineplex has brought back one of its biggest early-year promotions.

From January 20 to February 24, you can get general admission tickets and small popcorns for $5 each on Tuesdays. Note that this doesn’t include the $1.50 online booking fee, which is reduced to $1 for Scene+ members and waived entirely for $9.99/month CineClub subscribers. You can also upgrade from general admission to premium formats like Ultra AVX or VIP for an additional surcharge.

It’s worth noting that Scene+ members can still save 10 per cent on Tuesday tickets in addition to the discounted rate. That said, the $5 promotion isn’t available for non-feature films or Cineplex Events titles, which generally include the likes of special anime releases or recordings of theatre productions. More information on the $5 promotion can be found on Cineplex’s website.

In terms of what’s playing right now, the acclaimed 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and Dead Man’s Wire were just released in theatres. The horror movie Primate also opened earlier this month. That said, the January box office is generally pretty slow, so most of the other movies are holdovers from last year, such as Avatar: Fire and AshThe HousemaidMarty Supreme and Zootopia 2.

Other movies coming out over the next several weeks include Mercy and Return to Silent Hill (both Jan. 23), Shelter (Jan. 30), Wuthering Heights and Goat (both Feb. 6) and Crime 101 (Feb. 13). It’s worth noting that Scream 7, which once again stars Canada’s Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, drops on February 27, just after the $5 deal ends.

Check out all of the movies coming to Cineplex on the theatre chain’s website.
